Champion of Champions Update
Champion of Champions Success Continues!
Just when we thought last week's Champion of Champions Pairs victory would be hard to top, our West Toowoomba ladies have done it again, this time claiming the 2026 Champion of Champions Fours title in emphatic fashion.
A massive congratulations to Kerry Ryan, Marlene Hannant (sub), Gina Hawker and Deb Petersen, who produced a remarkable series throughout the event before storming home in the final with a dominant 27-8 victory. Their toughest challenge came in the Semi-Final against Drayton, where they showed their class and composure under pressure to secure a hard fought 23-17 win and earn their place in the decider.
To then perform as they did in the final was simply outstanding. The teamwork, consistency and determination shown by the ladies throughout the weekend was a credit to themselves and to West Toowoomba Bowls Club. Winning one Champion of Champions title is a tremendous achievement, but to back up last week's Pairs success with a Fours championship is something truly special.
Ladies, you have once again made our club incredibly proud. Your success highlights the strength of women's bowls at West and the dedication that each of you brings to the game. Congratulations on becoming 2026 Champion of Champions Fours Winners!
Our men's representatives also deserve enormous recognition for an excellent campaign. Gary Fry (sub), Graham Wockner, Billy "Bruiser" Dereck and Chris O'Connor battled their way through a strong field and were only denied a place in the semi-final by the eventual tournament winners, going down 21-12.
While the result was not the one they were hoping for, the men represented the club with distinction and demonstrated the depth of talent considering their ever-reliable Skip (col Hall) going North for the winter and leaving the boys a little inexperienced for the big games.
Congratulations to both our men's and women's teams on outstanding performances. However, this week belongs to our ladies, who have again etched their names into the history books and given the entire club another reason to celebrate.
Congratulations to all four players on your outstanding performances. You have represented West Toowoomba with skill, sportsmanship and pride, and your efforts are a credit to both yourselves and our club.
The last round of Championships is at Drayton this Saturday:

We wish Calum & Sue the very best of luck and encourage members to come along and show their support if possible. Please note Players: The club has paid your $25 nomination fee.
